1.For this research paper, I decided to talk about the movie Schindler’s List. In my opinion, this is one of the best historical films and that is why it is my all-time favorite although it came out in 1993. In this poster that I have decided to talk about, we can see how everything is in black and white. There is absolutely no color but the only thing that stands out in it is a little Jewish girl wearing a red coat. I believe the movie makers wanted to make that noticeable and eye-catching to its audience.
2. In my opinion, the creator of this poster and ad wanted to send out a message to its audience. Because everything is black and white, the mood the poster sends to its audience is depressive and oppressive. As we can see, there is one thing that stands out the most and that is the vibrant red coat. I believe that the message that the creator of the poster was trying to send out is innocence. Children are innocent which is why they picked a child to send out the message. The red represents the blood and death of the Jewish who were being murdered for no reason whatsoever.
3.I would say that the intended audience is anyone ages 15 and up. I believe so because in high school we start learning about the holocaust and the history behind it. Many professors show movies such as this one to the students. It is also intended for older men and women who have knowledge about World War II and are interested in learning more of certain stories such as the one Oskar Schindler had to offer.
4.The visual element that quickly grabbed my attention is, of course, the red coat. That is the only sort of color on the poster so it is something that surely stands out the most. Another thing that quickly grabbed my attention was the faces of the main characters being shown. Oskar's face is emotionless which makes you wonder what is going on through his mind.
5.Pathos is for sure used to grab the viewers’ attention in these posters. Because nothing has any sort of color it sends out a sense of sadness and depression. It makes the audience want to watch the film to find the reason behind the color theme.
6.The slogan in the poster is “Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.” What this means is that saving even one life is very meaningful. Saving only one life is enough to save the entire world. Schindler saved 1,000 through which was something to be very proud of; although towards the end of the film he doesn't feel like he had done enough.
7. In the poster, faces of the characters are being shown along with the child in the red coat. One thing that the creator left out, is some sort of Jewish symbol so that the audience know what the movie will be about. Without any description or summary of what the movie is about, I wouldn't have ever know that this movie would be about the Holocaust.
